Shorts - a little compendium of "in the works"

Always

There will always be a little bit,
The smallest little slice,
Of me that's forever grateful
That I have you in my life.
There are reminders every day;
Of you and me & me and you,
In everything I see and touch,
And taste and hear and do.

Epitaph

Bless this man for he is dead,
Because I hit him on the head
And so this soil is now his bed
I'm glad it's him, not me instead.

You Are What You Eat

I quite like eating apples
I had one for my tea
It wasn't very filling so,
I ate a further three.
I even ate all of the pips,
Now I'm an apple tree!

Promise

I promise you that,

In years to come,

I’ll still have all my

Habits.

And I promise, too,

Unless we do,

I will always want

A rabbit.

I promise you that,

When we argue,

I’ll always

Stand my ground.

And I promise, too,

When all is through,

I will come

Back around.

I promise you that,

When I am mad,

I’ll still lock myself

Away.

And I promise, too,

Unless it’s you,

It won’t be

Longer than

A day.

I promise you that,

I will endeavour to

Make you the happiest

Man in the world.

And I promise you, too,

That you have truly

Made me

The happiest girl.

I promise you that,

It won’t be very

Easy every

Day.

But I promise you that,

At least it will be

Exciting

Along the way.

I promise you that,

Sometimes you won’t

Like me

Much at all.

But I promise you that,

No matter what,

I’m in this with you,

Nattering, arguing, cleaning, cooking,

Playing, joking, talking, loving,

And all.

Habeo Laganum, Essum Laganum

Introduction

To think that one so absent minded,
By a ring can be so blinded,
That she undertakes to wed,
To spend forever in one bed.
With love confessed for an old flame,
And passing off the heavy blame.
So here it is, this is the thing,
Here is where she'll feel the sting:

Monogomy

She will now be bound forever,
To a man who loves her so,
But only one man now and ever,
Who would never let her go.
Never can she wander aimless,
To the arms of other men.
Never can she blame the blameless,
As she did time and again.

Now she lies there growing colder,
In a bed shared by one heart.
Beauty fades as she gets older,
Silence tearing her apart.
This is not the dreamlike ending,
That she thought of months ago.
Still to her, all parties bending,
Wishing she would let them go.

Though he loves her he is foolish,
Knowing she won't love one man,
She will never be thought prudish,
She will take whomever she can.
Still the wedding will be pretty,
Still the vows will be affirmed,
Still the speeches will be witty,
Still old flames in her heart burn.

Love Letter to a Wheaten Friend

I hold you by my fingertips,
And push you further down,
In my hot, wet, deliciousness,
And let you slowly drown.

As you soften I release you
From my controlling grip,
You hover just above my cup,
From there I watch you drip.

Your round and perfect body,
Mouthwatering and warm,
Melts upon my eager tongue,
Losing its flawless form

I love you so, my dearest friend,
You're always there for me,
When times are hard and I'm alone,
I reach for the Rich Tea.
